Here is the current list of songs for the choir (as of 23 January 2019).
I have made a last-minute change to the list – replacing “Come On Sloopy” with “Where Do The Children Play?”. “Come On Sloopy” would probably be more fun to sing, but “Where Do The Children Play?” is much more on topic and in line with the mood of week 6. The download files and Spotify playlist have been adjusted accordingly.
We will do 18 songs – 3 songs per week for 6 weeks, then choose 10 to rehearse on week 7 and perform in a concert for friends and relatives on week 8.
You can download this list (with the links to YouTube videos) here.
You can also hear the songs on Spotify – instructions are here.
Week 1: Does Money Matter?
Cant Buy Me Love (The Beatles)
Money Changes Everything (Cyndi Lauper)
God Bless The Child (Billie Holliday)
Of course, we’ll do a much more regular version of the timing than Billie does.
Week 2: Imagining
Puttin On the Ritz (Fred Astaire)
Money Money Money (Abba)
Money – That’s What I Want (Barrett Strong)
Week 3: Let’s Make Lots Of Money
Material Girl (Madonna)
Big Time Operator (Jeff St John & The ID)
Opportunities (The Pet Shop Boys)
Week 4: Money (and Power) Corrupts
This song dates from about 1790. The version on the video is not quite what we’ll do – a much closer version is on Spotify.
Money (Pink Floyd)
Blue Sky Mine (Midnight Oil)
Week 5: It’s Not Fair
Another Day in Paradise (Phil Collins)
Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out (video is Eric Clapton)
She Works Hard For The Money (Donna Summer)
Week 6: The Price of Everything / The Value of Nothing
Where Do The Children Play? (Yusuf Islam)
Price Tag (Jessie J)
As Tears Go By (The Rolling Stones)
